Rosamel Castle is situated at the southern side of the village of Frencq, at the entrance of the hamlet of Rosamel, when coming from the departemental road 113, which comes from Etaples by a small valley, perpendicular to the Canche. The small and long houses are included into the green and with relief landscape of the Boulonnais, edged by country hedges.
One can enter in the castle by a planted lane at the south, in the countryside. At the West side, the ancient entrance is constituted by a farm. At the North, the garden walls avoid seeing directly the castle from the street of Rosamel. A the East side, the Rosamel wood, in which still remains the stamp of the park lanes, is a limit as well as a green screen from the slope.
Situation
Rosamel’s castle evokes his fastuous times. Surrounded by scaffolding, the ‘Château’ reflects in the moats.
The original outbuildings, chapel and gates are still there.
The garden shapes survive, with olds walls. The farm’s building is similar to a back scenery.
Some vegetation survives: one beech, a marvellous box-tree, some fruit trees which show an old orchard. The pound keep a wild atmosphere.
The pig farm, next to the castle, seems to be an agricultural shed, and it is not very pleasant.
At the south-west, in front of the entrance, the field is like a waiting room, enclosed by Rosamel’s wood and country hedges.
